About

Often, when the MOTH (Man Of The House) and I discuss matters with flexible outcomes he reassures me that “it’s a moveable feast.” This delightful adage seems to fit a good many aspects of my life, even becoming the title of a recipe book we once published (which sounds rather grand but isn’t; I’ll tell you about it one day).  So it became the natural choice when naming my blog. Since my passions in life are many and varied, you’ll find the topic matters here are indeed a moveable feast. Food, photography, piano, craft, travel … it’s gonna be an eclectic mix!

In Christianity, a moveable feast refers to a holy day (or feast) that’s observed on different dates in different years, with the most important set revolving around Easter. Ernest Hemingway’s posthumously published memoir, of time spent in Paris as a young man, is also entitled “A Moveable Feast”. Its epigraph reads: “If you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris as a young man, then wherever you go for the rest of your life, it stays with you, for Paris is a moveable feast.

For me, living is a moveable feast and I hope you’ll enjoy sharing some reflections from a mind that rarely rests.
